As a bonus episode of the Quarantine Diaries project, that I finished last month, I wanted to share a list of positive things I've done/worked on since mid-March, when self-quarantine became something more serious. My intention is not, by any means, to brag about accomplishments, as I don't even feel that way, even though I did get to finally work on a lot of things that were sitting on my "someday/maybe" list for too long. My hope is that at least one person out there can feel inspired by.
It's hard to believe that we're already in November! So here a look back to what happened around here during the past 8 months or so:
Decided to take advantage of Zoom (who didn't, right?) and started a series of calls with my family (who lives in a different country), and that brought us closer than ever!;
Started hosting online Photography meetups and was able to experiment with teaching webinars in topics like Double Exposures, Long Exposures, Websites, and more;
Had a couple of mentoring sessions with fellow Photographer Erica Reade who helped me rethink all different aspects of my website;
Changed seats and mentored a fellow Photographer, guiding him through using Adobe Lightroom;
Started to keep track of my daily habits using Streaks, after reading the book Tiny Habits. Some of the habits I'm still tracking are meditation, reading, exercising, and (more recently) practicing the piano;
Got back into playing Ping-Pong after decades without getting close to a table;
Got back into posting here on the blog with much more consistency after a long hiatus. Also got back into sending bi-monthly Newsletters with thoughts and updates;
Created a new series on the blog called Shuffle Sundays, sharing 7 interesting things I came across that week;
Started a project called Quarantine Diaries: a series of conversations exploring how other artists and creatives are spending their time and energy during the quarantine. (this here is the very last post from the project, for now);
Finally reconnected with Photography after almost 6 months;
Photographed my friend's wedding at Central Park;
Also experimented with some self-portraits for the first time!;
Applied for 3 different jobs. LinkedIn is still a mystery to me... help me!;
Finally started to sell prints online through my website;
Bought the new Sufjan Stevens record on vinyl;
Bought a Yamaha keyboard and I’m learning how to play the piano;
Read a lot of books, some of my favorites include Photo Therapy, Dark Matter, Daily Rituals, Tiny Habits, Essentialism, Creative Calling, and Bone;
And last, but not least, I've been playing a bunch of video-games, because why not!
